“O, Be Careful Little Eyes…”
(continued from last week)
* “O, Be careful little (big) mouth what you say!” - What
example does our family hear from us? –lies, cursing (God’s name in vain),
complaining, sarcasm, etc? Even James himself did not have perfect control
of his tongue, but that was his goal! (James 3:2).
1. Be careful instead and speak truth in love, confront
sin when
necessary, no compromise in doctrine, thanksgiving, praise to
God! (Eph. 4:29-32).
* “O, Be careful little (big) hands what you do!” – Do we
spend all our energy and focus on necessary but temporary things; tear down
things that are eternal; or build our own idols of convenience and comfort?
Do we view our children only as objects to be groomed and show off to
others, or as immortal souls bound for 1 of 2 places for eternity? (Psalm
127:3).
1. Instead, be careful and “Let him who stole steal no
longer,
but rather let him labor working with his hands what is good,
that he may have something to give him who has need.” (Eph. 4:28).
* “O, Be careful little (big) feet where you go!” – Ever
since Adam and Eve ran from their own sin and responsibility (Genesis 3),
people have been making excuses and running away!
1. Vacation time can be recreation, family time,
opportunity to meet
new Christians, etc. But many (even Christians) use it as a time
to undress (or dress immodestly), forsake worship, and spend
foolishly.
2. Instead be careful, and ‘As you go…’ teach and live the Christian
life (Matt. 28:19).

God’s Word
Psalm 137:1-6
By the rivers of Babylon ,
There we sat down, yea, we wept
When we remembered Zion .
2 We hung our harps
Upon the willows in the midst of it.
3 For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song,
And those who plundered us requested mirth,
Saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion !"
4 How shall we sing the LORD's song
In a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
Let my right hand forget its skill!
6 If I do not remember you,
Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth--
If I do not exalt Jerusalem
Above my chief joy.
